The Royal Wedding

we're also very proud in Cambridgeshire to have you as our Duke & Duchess :-) I loved watching every second of the Royal Wedding. Ok weddings are my thing, but even so, I cant believe anyone could watch such a wedding and not be moved by it! Its great to see a happy couple tie the knot! What stood out to me is how happy they looked! There's various moments I watch during your weddings to capture the emotion, these moments cant be staged or acted, they have to come from the heart, and during William and Catherine wedding I certainly believe they're totally in love with each other and aside from all the glory they just want to be with each other the same as any other couple in love want to be. This is what creates amazing photos! not the location or the weather or what people are wearing (OK this can help) but the best weddings I've ever photographed is when the couple are extremely happy together. One of the weddings I photographed at Ely Registry Office last year was amazing, quite a modest venue compared to the Abbey or some other local venues, but even so, the couple just looked right to be with each other, we had a fun photoshoot with everyone looking over the moon! I know this couple will always look back on those photos with the best memories! This is what I want to capture at every wedding! OK I like cool Artistic images and technically correct images, but when you look back on your wedding photos I want you to remember how happy you were on your wedding day. A big part of my job on the day is to help you feel relaxed by being organised and professional myself, the same as all the other service providers should do. I'm sure William and Kate had everyone running around after them insuring everything is perfect! but you don't need to spend a fortune for this! You just need to book professional services who you can trust.

As you can see from the photographs this was a gorgeous wedding at a lovely venue. I'd highly recommend the Old Bridge Hotel, Huntingdon for a wedding and the rooms are cool if you'd just like a night away. Joe & Anya booked me from Bridal preparations until The 1^st dance, so they got virtually the whole wedding covered with around 600 photos to choose from. Their final selection will go into a graphi studios story book album.

Congratulations Cindy & Beynur, I had a lovely time photographing your wedding, The ceremony is always lovely at Ely Registry office and its nice to be able to take a few shots during the exchanging of the rings. The court yard is also great for photos! This was my first Wedding at The Swan Littleport since its refurbishment - The venue is lovely inside and out! I love taking photos by the river! The Brook House Hotel Wedding fayre

Here's a quick pic from the brook house hotel wedding fayre, we had a nice day chatting to various couples (even though it was gorgeous weather :-) I don't tend to do many wedding fayres as I find most of my bookings come from recommendations or through online searches. However its a nice day for couples to get some inspiration for their wedding and basically see what's on offer without having to visit each individual supplier. I'd recommend all couples to visit a couple of wedding fayres and also suppliers that haven't tried one yet to do the same! Not really sure if its a place to secure a service as people seem to analyse all the options then make a decision at home. but its a great way to interact especially for those of us that don't have a high street shop. A few of the suppliers that stood out to me were Astarte Brides, they always put on a great fashion show of gorgeous bridal-wear, G2 Events, they have an amazing sound and light system for your evening disco and I also Love Rogers 3D wedding Videos from Molly G Productions.

Enjoy The Day what ever the weather

Good Morning Everyone,

Happy British Summer Time :-)

This is my favourite time of year, I love the excitement of the Great British enthusiasm that hopefully we'll get some great weather this summer! We had our first bbq over the weekend :-) and am looking forward to lots of evenings outside! I actually like taking photos what ever the weather as there's pros and cons to every condition. I've taken photos from some of hottest countries like Jordan to some of the coldest countries like Spitsbergen Norway. I also used to take a lot of photos on some of the south pacific islands where it seemed to rain none stop, but even the rain never stopped us from taking nice photos. So from a photographers point of view I'll get the photos I want what ever the weather, but I understand from your point of view you prefer to be photographed in nice weather. A little tip is enjoy the day what ever the weather, then you'll naturally look great in the pics! just let your photographer think about the best photos for the current weather. I urge all of you never to panic about the weather on your wedding day when im photographing your wedding :-) if any of you would like any tips on taking photographs in the rain or any other weather conditions please email me!

Vernal equinox weekend

Hi Everyone,

Hope you all had a great weekend :-) although a little chilling, I found the sun extremely bright for photos a real sense of spring in the air :-)

I had a great weekend taking photos starting from Friday night at the university arms hotel Cambridge. A fun Student Ball Themed the Mad Hatters Tea Party, photographed some fun people in cool hats :-) Then another lovely wedding on Saturday at St Leonards Church Little downham then onto a marquee in the parents garden (marquees in the garden are becoming a nice popular option) Then on Sunday I was at the Nyton Hotel Wedding Fayre www.thenyton.com we all had a nice day and met some lovely couples looking to get married between now until around 2014, its also a great time for us suppliers to have a catch up! I'm now back in the office replying to emails, editing the photos and also preparing for a Scout Talk on photography, to help the Scouts get their photography badge.

Hi Everyone,

Hope your all having a great start to 2011 :-)

I've been seriously busy with updating all my work and buying even more equipment, I believe I've bought the best equipment on the market for what I do and as far as I know there's nothing else I could buy to enhance my work (its costing a fortune, but the quality is amazing) I can now take photos that only a few years ago no one thought possible – its great!!!

I recently photographed a gorgeous wedding at The Bridge Hotel Huntingdon (http://www.huntsbridge.com ) its a gorgeous venue with great service, id highly recommend getting married there! Have a look at Joe and Anyas photos www.shaunscottphotography.co.uk/preview_albums.htm you wouldn't believe how cold and dull the day was, but im sure you'll agree the photos are gorgeous!

I've got a great line up of weddings this year at various other local great venues with some lovely couples. And cant believe how many of last years bride and grooms now have babies on the way :-)

I'm going to be taking a lot more portraits this year in the studio and on location, there's some lovely areas around for the location photos, keep an eye on my portraits page for some new updates www.shaunscottphotography.co.uk/portrait_photography.htm makeover portraits are becoming very popular, especially as I can take them locally and at a competitive price compared to driving to some of the studios in the larger cities. Quite often groups of girls/ladies have booked me for hen parties :-)

June and July are also going to be very busy with Proms, Balls and Events, the white backdrop and the green-screen digital backdrops have proved to be very popular and a great selling point. I think the photos look great and work out cheap compared to being photographed in a high street studio.

I seem to be breaking through to the larger companies for my event photography, i've just come home from a huge event for The NHS at the Excel London, Donna, Chris and myself had a fun time photographing people on a greenscreen then adding them to the front cover of the HSJ Magazine.

Slepe Hall, St Ives Wedding

Just thought I'd tell everyone how great Slepe Hall at St Ives is, I photographed a gorgeous wedding there on Saturday which was the first time I'd been there since it has been refurbished. I was very impressed with the décor and service! I was also a guest at the wedding so stayed in the hotel for the night, was a lovely room with a Hot Tub :-) we had great weather for the photos, was even to sunny at one point, then as would luck would have it a nice little cloud gave us some shade just as we needed it :-) I'm always so lucky with the weather on wedding days! Just wish I could say the same for my days off lol so if your wondering about your wedding venue i'd recommend a look over at Slepe hall St Ives.

Hope your all having a great start to the year, not long now until the 1st bank holiday :-)

Another go at Blogging

Hi Everyone,

after about 3 I'm going to have another go at blogging. To be honest, I still think my photos should do the talking and I'm not sure how many of you would even have time in 2010 to read up on this workaholic. So if you strapped for time and wondering about booking me, just check through the portfolio or even have a sneaky peak at someone else's preview album. But if you do fancy having a read about some of my thoughts please carry on...

You'll probably notice I don't advertise is some of the “normal places” or even advertise much at all, this is due to most of you are here from recommendation and the other percentage through my trusty friend “Google”. Some people ask, why don't you do wedding fayres? I've done a couple, but don't really like them. I think they're great for you to check out what's available and then go home and decide what you like and don't like. but not so great for me on a Sunday morning when you've already been approached by the 7 other over enthusiastic photog's. I don't want any of my services to be booked by good sale skills, Photography & Excellent Service is my forte.

2009 in Brief.

We had an excellent year at work and play. Instead of winging about the dreaded R word, I concentrated even harder on providing the best competitive service imaginable. Alright, its hasn't been a walk in the park (or Caribbean cruise) but when I look back on the year I produced some of my best work ever, working with some lovely wedding couples, some excellent School Proms, Portraits are becoming even more popular. And I've photographed more charity events than ever raising lots of money for the charities. Hey, I even took some time off work for fun days out n about in the uk and also boating. Being a former cruise ship photog I still love any form of boating, one of my high lights of this year was cruising down the Thames and out to sea :-)
Thoughts for 2010.

I'm already having and looking forward to a great year :-) Even the media seem a little more chirpy than six months ago. Workwise as always at this time of year I look back on my past years work and decide how I can improve everything, I read new books and study the latest technology. There's a new camera out that I really do fancy. This is also a time of year where I live what some would say a normal type lifestyle as in I have dinner at a normal time, watch a bit of TV and even get the odd weekend off work. Later on in the year weekends & nights are usually booked and the pc is on instead of the tv. So new plans for this year, i've decided to do more makeover portraits, i've always liked shooting them, so this year decided to promote them. I've also still got loads of weddings booked and plenty of Events :-) we've been wondering about a holiday :-)
